We booked all of our ferries using Ferryhopper. To island hop, we utilized the ferry port to get to our next destination. For your visit, it is important to note there are many buses and taxi services available on the island, as well as car and ATV rentals. Since we had a rental car provided by our Airbnb host, we did not have a need to book any additional services. The host was super friendly and accommodating and also made some great recommendations for our stay. The rental came with free breakfast every morning (between 9 and 10am) and a free rental car! This was a MUST to get around the island at our leisure. It also had a kitchen area, TV, AC and WiFi. The villa itself was surrounded by mountain ranges and had a pool, 2 bedrooms, 4 (3 twins, 1 full/queen) beds in total and a futon that could be used as 5th bed. Our host Rousettos, offered us transportation from the airport to the villa and when we checked out, he provided transport to the port to catch the ferry to our next destination. We found a great deal through Airbnb (get $40 off your first booking here) for this home in Thira that was in the middle of the island, but still walking distance away from beaches and shopping areas. Be sure to show us some love on Instagram and/or Twitter if you find our guides helpful! We spent 2 days in each island and 1 day in between due to weather delays on the ferry. We also decided to visit some lesser known islands as we wanted smaller crowds.īelow we share our itinerary and tips for the following islands: Santorini, Naxos, Paros and Milos. For this trip, we opted to island hop instead of sticking to just one island. This was our first time visiting Greece and we couldn’t be more exited to take in all of the culture, see the beautiful cave houses (also known as Cycladic houses) and the breathtaking beaches. If it helps you please share your feedback and your pictures. Note: this guide is very expansive and has lots of information. This itinerary is available in either direction subject to flight availability.Time of the year we visited: September, 2018Īverage cost of the flight: $500 roundtrip (we shared this fare) The famous windmills overlook the waterfront and little Venice. Mykonos Town is incredibly picturesque, a maze of narrow stone-flagged streets lined with dazzlingly white buildings in the distinctive cubist style. This is an island for everyone, perfect for relaxing holidays spent sunbathing on one of the many long, sandy beaches and for evenings as lively or relaxed as you wish. The island of Ios is renowned for being the burial place of Homer 'the poet of poets'. The island offers some fantastic water sports. It has a beautiful Venetian port and many excellent fish restaurants. Naoussa is especially charming, it was once an old fishing village and now has become more cosmopolitan. On the Southern and Eastern sides you will find the volcanic beaches of Kamari and Perissa. The western cliff top villages cling to the volcanic crater rim and look out to the dramatic caldera.
